I Had The Time of My Life

Just when you think it's time to forgo TV for good, they pull you back in with THE BEST SHOW IN TELEVISION HISTORY. For those of you who missed "High School Reunion" last year, don't miss the new season, starting this Sunday. Here's what TheWB.com says:

"This time around, the creators of this dramatic reality series have invited a volatile mix of classmates from Round Rock High School, a tight-knit and notoriously clique-ish campus located just outside of Austin, Texas."

Awesome! They just throw these kids together in one of those ridiculous McMansions and let the fur fly.

This is my favorite type of reality show - when there's not a million dollar prize, no one gets kicked off, there's none of those freaky plastic/silicone people that you've never actually seen in your everyday meanderings -- these are real people in what is basically a nationally-broadcast sociology experiment. What was fascinating about last year's show was that you could really see these people struggling with their identities - who they were in high school versus everything they had become. I mean, it took me right back. Oof.

I'm tellin' ya - don't knock it til you try it.

And Now, a Few Words from the NYT's "Critic's Notebook"

Because we have not been saturated enough with images of Saddam, and analyses on the images of Saddam and analyses of our analyses, today the New York Times provides us with a review, I kid you not, of the camerawork of the images of Saddam.

An excerpt:

"Formally it's a deft piece of work, with striking moments: the underside of Mr. Hussein's tongue, radiantly orange in the doctor's light, is a shot for film students."

Also:

"Sony PD 150's are the same cameras many photojournalists use, but some combat camera operators, like the one who shot Mr. Hussein's medical exam, still manage to give their video a raw, low-fi look."

I'm SOOOOO glad they decided to go with the "raw, low-fi look". I think that was a daring aesthetic choice.

Nicole Richie, the black heroin addict, is making nice. I think she'll do fine. But the music and the country-bumpkin voiceover have got to go.

I can't wait to see that movie, "Honey".

WHAT? It's OVER? NOOOOOOOooooooooo! Well, the previews for the rest of the season look great. Some yokel will now get a giant boost in popularity since he's clearly tongueing Paris. I bet he gets his own show after this.
